Page Springs to Sedona

A few photos taken on the drive from where we were camped (Page Springs) to Sedona.

Big skies everywhere

A new building designed in the style of an old mission.

All of a sudden, there it is.  Driving into Sedona never fails to take my breath away.  The building restriction in Sedona are so strict that structures don't have much of an impact on the view.

I posted my own video of a panoramic view of Sedona, but it didn't work! So, here is one from a commercial tour company. I just wanted you all to see what it's all about. I've never been on a helicopter tour of the place (or any other) because I'm too cheap.

Although our trip was to the Sedona Az, area, our actual destination was to a VERY small place called Page Springs. It may or may not have been a part of another small town called Cornville, but we never figured it out.  Anyway, it's about 10 miles or so outside of Sedona.

As said a while back, Sedona is beautiful and we love it, but this trip was more about the exploring the back roads. On Wednesday, I'll get started on that.

  2. Iconic is the only word that comes to mind as I view these. Okay, maybe breathtaking. And stunning. And make-me-want-to-be-there-right-now.

While I agree the scenery is magnificent, it's even more so thanks to the way you've captured it through your lens. I truly do wish I could experience this place for real, thanks to you.

  3. Cornville has been a favorite place. Know it like the back of my hand, and Lord knows why a person would pick it to fall in love with. Guess because everyone else is visiting Sedona?
Can't wait until the backroad photos start!

  13. I have my doubts that I would be able to relax and enjoy the view from a helicopter... around all those rocks. I'd be a nervous wreck!

  17. I see the resemblance of the "mission" style architecture, the belfry (ies). The building is so huge though.

Yes, Pat, it is Mono Lake, South Tufa Reserve. I was in a hurry write that post (tired from the trip) I failed to mention the place. I have edited it and thanks.

  22. Ah, I need some of the warmth and sunshine here! Wonderful road trips you get to take in your lovely part of the world! I love the mountains and desert - there's something really compelling about them, especially when you have the whole road to yourself. ;-))

  23. At the top of my Bucket List is to go west before I die...and I need to hurry up considering I am already 72 going on 90! These shots are to die for in their beauty. How lucky you are to have all of these gorgeous places to photograph. It is beautiful here in the mountains of Virginia, but I have to say I still want to get to California. genie

  24. wow, Sedona is at the top of my list of places I want to visit. I've heard very many great things about the place - the beautiful setting, the people, the energy. you've captured it well and given me a taste to hold me over until my day comes. I live much too far away to drive it I think, but I've driven to New Mexico, so maybe it's doable. I've embiggened the photos, and it's so worth it! the skies are gorgeous with the colors of the rock. happy day to you Pat.

  29. Sedona--fabulous red wines there! Did you get any?
As far as helicopter rides being relaxing and calming, well, the one I had kept me hopping on the edge of my seat. Some of those canted turns thru the mountain passes had my heart in my mouth. I just kept taking pictures. The whole ride lasted just 15 minutes. It seemed like half an hour and my iphoto slideshow lasted 12 and a half minutes!
