I like scary, creepy and things on the dark side. I'm sure many of you remember some of my doll head posts from last year. If not, and you like creepy looking stuff, check them out. I have some plans for next Halloween involving those same dolls and some fiber optic lighting.
There always has to be a creepy pic of my granddaughter Tay.
Can you imagine how un-scary Halloween would be if it took place during the daytime. Scary costumes just don't work in the sunlight. Especially if it's a cheesy 19 dollar costume with a cheap plastic mask. But if you take the same costume and wear it at night under the right lighting conditions, then it's a whole different ballgame.
Voodoo? Who do? You do!
Again, a cheap wall hanging can be easily transformed into something a bit creepier than it was intended to be. This mask was hanging on a wall and brightly colored until I altered it just a tiny bit.
A 99 cent mask
My favorite scary movie of all time is the Blair Witch Project. I pick it for one reason and one reason only. It scares the crap out of me!

my mug likes softer, subdued lighting these days as well. :)
ReplyDeleteHalloween Hop!
ReplyDeleteHi! The scariest book I've ever read was "IT". It reached deep into my subconsciousness and scared the heck out of me! For Halloween I'll be dragging out my Elmo snuggy for my couch potato costume.

TexWisGirl - Ha! So does mine! I didn't mean to post this yet, as it wasn't done. Now it is though, if you want to go back.
ReplyDeletelynnhubbard - I like that book also, but they totally screwed up the ending in the movie!
Great pics. I am not a blair witch fan. It just didn't hit my spine tingling bone right. I also don't like shaky cam, the two may be related.
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos! I really dig the skull.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of your granddaughter is awesome. :) I love Halloween!! :)
ReplyDeleteA LITTLE SOMETHING (<--cLiCkY-cLiCkY!)for your Trick or Treat bag, my dear? Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteWe all love scary movies here and The Blair is in the air!
ReplyDeleteYou always have such 'neat' Halloween masks and photos... I am sure they
ReplyDeletedo look creepy in the right light..
but in the daylight at my puter they
look just fine.
now i'm going to have to check it out. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletei love scary movies too.
i still remember those scary doll head posts, pat. they were really good.
AHA! I KNEW you would do the Halloween thing up good and scary. I DO remember last year. I couldn't sleep for a month without my light on after that. And I have to say...after the first (pretty sweet) picture...I had to scroll fast. Sorry. I have a weak head and heart;)
ReplyDeleteI look scary, regardless of the lighting... and I don't have to wear a mask!
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween!
Budd - Thanks! The handheld camera didn't bother me at all. I do understand what you mean though, a lot of folks complained about.
ReplyDeleteAlex - Thanks Alex! It was a cheapie...
Baby Sister - She has big eyes so she's halfway to children of the corn naturally! thanks!
SparkleFarkle - thanks for the link, that was pretty darn cool. Long time no see...
Brian - I guess it was a love or hate deal. I loved it.
faye - Yeah, that's what everybody says. But alone at night, in the woods, on your laptop...
Betty M - Thanks Betty! I just ran out of time to do what I wanted to do for this year. Oh well, at least I'll have an early start for next time.
Dawn - thanks Dawn! I'm glad you like them. The doll heads will make another appearance next year, but totally different.
Ms. A - I doubt that! Me now, that is another story... HH to you too!
Brian -
I don't know why but messed up doll heads scare me the most! Great pics for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteDood! You go all out for Halloween? How cool is that? I love it!
ReplyDeleteBelle - I also think they are pretty creepy! Thanks Belle!
ReplyDeleteNikki - Not all the way out. I quit costumes after my crossing dressing halloween experience. I think you saw that post
Happy Halloween Hop, Patrick - good to *meet* you! So you're the third person today to push Blair Witch - for some reason that didn't resonate with me and I hardly remember it (yes, I will wait while you perform fake gasps and eye rolls) so now I'm going to watch it again with open-er eyes ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're right; there's nothing scary about Halloween in the daytime. I remember when we used to be able to come to school in our costumes. You could really tell who cheaped out on the costumes, namely my family.
ReplyDeleteLove the transformation of that already creepy face.
Great post.
Your granddaughter is funny.. ahaha
ReplyDeleteHave to say though, hated Blair Witch. With a passion.
I'll take The Shining, or The Exorcist, or even Evil Dead anyday.
I love creepy, scary! And I definitely remember your doll post from last year, creepy to the max.
ReplyDeleteI think my problem with The Blair Witch Project was I read too many stories about it before seeing the movie. The camera didn't bother me but I just couldn't feel any sympathy for the characters.
I'm beginning to think this halloween blog hop is a bad idea- stumbling across so many scary photos!!! Lol
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a fan of anything horror related to be honest. I used to be, but the movie Halloween H20 scarred me for life! I won't be dressing up this year until the late celebrations in November...haven't decided what to go as yet
Great blog :-)

I do remember the doll heads Pat.. the scariest things I saw last year by far.
ReplyDeleteScary movies freak me out, big time!
Hi Pat, thanks for stopping by. All good picks. I can't watch scary movies. I'd never sleep again. LOL
ReplyDeleteNancy
Blair Witch was a little scary! I like your photos and the effects you used.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and terrifying photos. But it made me forget the doll heads last year.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite scary movie is "Ghost Story." Even though it has Fred Astaire in it, it really is good. The ghost is that chick who played the Borg Queen in one of those Star Trek movies. It's creepy and I had to feel sorry for the ghost.
ReplyDeleteI'll never forget the dollies...
ReplyDeleteYou're soooo good at creepy, Pat. I like your pics - and yes, I remember the doll series - but for a self-proclaimed fearless wonder, I just don't do scary. Haven't seen any of the movies mentioned (or even heard of most of them). But Tay? She's just a princess with a gift for posing for your camera!! :-D Boo!!
ReplyDeleteCreepy pictures! I've never seen the Blair Witch Project, just because I'm a wimp and don't like to get too scared. But my fave Halloween movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas.
ReplyDeletegetting a bit creepy here Pat. that's alright, you're in the spirit! I've never seen The Blair Witch project, but I'm watching it tonight. thanks for the reminder. and happy Halloween to you.
ReplyDeleteThat first pic should be The Official Face of Halloween.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween weekend, Pat.
xoRobyn
I love that first picture!
ReplyDeleteShelley - Thanks for stopping by! Yep, people are very polarized about BWP, the love or hate it. No eye rolls here! Everyone is entitled to like or dislike what they want! I hope you like it though.
ReplyDeleteDraven - I remember wearing one to school also. It just doesn't cut it. In my family the costumes were usually home made. We usually dressed as hobos. that meant we could pretty much wear our own clothes!
Anthony - Yep, she's my buddy!
I loved those movies also. Something about BWP just got to me. Maybe it's from spending too many nights in the woods.
SQ - Thanks for remembering! I'm peeved that I ran out of time on the doll heads for this year. Oh, I didn't feel any sympathy for the characters. When idiots and the deep woods meet, the woods ALWAYS win!
TTORIA - Yep! lot's of scary stories and photos. I don't really like the slasher type horror movies, and Halloween series didn't really appeal to me. Late celebrations in November? Well then, you could go as a procrastinator... Thanks for coming over!
Magia da Ines - Thanks so much! Same to you.
Pam - thanks Pam! I was pretty happy with how that all came out. 99% of the pics were B&W. The next batch are going to have some small fiber optics lights snaked into them. At least that's my plan. if it works, it should be very creepy.
N.R. Williams - Hey there! My pleasure, sorry it's been so long. Scary movies don't bother me usually.
Carly - Thanks so much Carly! They were a lot easier than most would think. I don't own any photoshop type programs, so it's all basic stuff.
Leovi - Thanks Leovi! I gave the doll heads a break this year. Next year they will be back...
Al - I liked that movie also. In fact, it's been so long since I've seen it, I may watch it again very soon.
ReplyDeletealtadenahiker - Good! I'm glad they people liked them (or didn't like them and found them scary.
Francisca - Thanks! It takes a lot of work to be this creepy! I understand why a lot of people don't like scary stuff though. It's scary! Oh yeah, Tay is always willing to pose and take on a role.
Cortney - Thanks Cortney! There is nothing wrong with not liking that kind of stuff. I liked that youor favorite also.
Ms. Becky - Hey, it's my nature. I hope you like it and the handheld camera doesn't turn you off.
Robyn - That's my girl! Hope you also have a good weekend Robyn!
Mama Zen - Thanks so much! The family ham is always willing to pose.
Neat stuff Pat. Way back when I borrowed a high quality full head gorilla mask from my brother. I wore it to work and scared the pants off a few people when I snuck up behind them.
ReplyDeleteThen I took my girls out trick or treating wearing the mask, a hat, gloves and a trench coat. I had more fun than the girls.
I could never watch that scary movie...I won’t watch or read anything scary. I am such a wimpy old lady! Love the shot of your granddaughter. Mine is always making faces like that. Glad to see you have the old Halloween spirit. genie
ReplyDeleteAware Writer - Thanks! I know what you mean about having fun with gorilla costume. My wife's sister always goes all out and wears her costume to work and then to our house on halloween.
ReplyDeleteGenie - I understand! That stuff scares me, but it doesn't affect me at all. I could watch the exorcist and then sleep in a cemetery by myself. (well, I think I could...)
CREEPY!! :) Happy Halloween to you too, Pat!
ReplyDeleteYour granddaughter is a delight in front of the lens. I bet she's got a whole scrapbook filled with memorable pics, courtesy of you!
ReplyDeleteMy scariest movie is anything with Kathleen Turner in it these days.... Lady has not aged well.... Terrifying!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree completely with your choice of Blair Witch. I was totally into it and out on camping in the woods. In fact whenever I see camping in anything I'm watching I never fail to think of Blair Witch. The testament to its effect...I have only seen it once!
ReplyDeleteBTW...in the right makeup your granddaughter could be the girl from The Ring!
I really don't like the scary stuff on TV...I still go for the syrupy romantic funny stories with the happy endings. I LOVE dressing up for Halloween or any time at all, but always funny not scary. I'll leave that for you, Pat.
ReplyDeleteRosemary
Hi there! Anything with ghosts or demons scare me. =)
ReplyDeleteEG Wow - Thanks so much and same to you!
ReplyDeleteCarmi - Thanks! She is a character and I have a ton of photos of her.
Steve - I hear you. I saw her on an interview show a while back. When did she become English? I swear she was speaking with an accent. Thanks for coming over!
Chuck - I'm happy to hear that. Great minds think alike! I've only seen it once myself, but I have the DVD waiting for me in the corner (get it?)
Rosemary - I don't dress up at all anymore. that crossdressing incident cured me of that. Do you remember that post? Have a good halloweeen!
E. Arroyo - I don't mind getting scared a bit. I know what to avoid! Thanks for stopping by
BOO!! and Tay is getting so big...
ReplyDeletefor me the scariest movie was one i saw many moons ago called "hellraiser".. that Pinhead man scared the mess outta me..
Oh God, I *do* remember those creepy doll heads! That voodoo thing is almost as scary. Happy Hallowe'en, Pat!
ReplyDeletehappy halloween great photos
ReplyDeleteScary pictures....and loved that look on your granddaughter's face. let me know if the dolls are making a come back...I'll run for cover.
ReplyDeleteNicely scary, I love it!
ReplyDeleteJust hopping by before the weekend gets away from me. Hi Pat!
ReplyDeletethanks for participating in the HOP!
ReplyDeletemy favorite horror is alien
and i was an army guy this year because everyone where i am (philippines) calls foreigners Joe as in GI Joe from when America occupied over here! lol
anyway hope to see u around!
best
jeremy
Have a creepy spooky Halloween Pat!
ReplyDeleteLove this post. I just posted a creepy doll head on my Halloween post today from a presumed haunted mill located in an area that has been filmed by Ghosthunters. Creepy stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'm here from the blog hop and delighted to discover yours. My favorite scary book is IT (scared the crap out of me when I was a kid), movie that horrified me most was Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween, and I did not dress up this year, because I'm lame. I hope to cure this infliction next year.
Happy Halloween!
Ditto on The Blair Witch Project. I think it's so scary because the worst parts are totally left up to your own imagination! I am going to come back and check out those dolls.
ReplyDeleteHave a Spooktacular Night!
That picture of your granddaughter makes me think of shot of Jimmy Stewart in It's A Wonderful Life. It's right when he's going mad. He makes a face like she's pulling and combined with a similar close angle, it just triggered it to memory.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's all kinds of awesome.
Lynne - OH! you scared me! Tay sure is growing up. Oh yeah! Hellraiser is number 2 on my list. Pinhead, to me is one of the alltime classice horror characters.
ReplyDeleteTalli - I'm glad you remember them, I'll try to have even creepier ones next year.
becca - Thanks becca and same to you!
Penelope - Thanks for stopping by!
Reka - Hi Reka! thanks so much! She is more than willing to ham it up for me. The doll heads will be back in just about a year.
AB - Thanks so much!
Patricia Stoltey - I hear you! In fact, it totally did get away from me.
Jeremy Bates - My pleasure! I loved that movie also. Here's a link to a blog post I did relating to LSD and that movie.
http://patricktillett.blogspot.com/2010/03/its-cool-man.html
Sharon - thanks Sharon! You do the same!
Amberr - I'll be over to check it out as soon as I can! I loved IT also, too bad they screwed up the movie.
Stickup Artist - Yep! It was just them and the deep deep woods.
Happy Halloween Hop, Patrick!
ReplyDeleteDoll heads!!! Eeeeekkkk!! Really, really, really creepy and very Halloween appropriate! Love your blog and all the fabulous photos!

Fav scary book: The Shining (still makes me shiver!)
Fav costume: a witch (what else?)
Fav horror film: The Fog (yikes :0)
Scary, for sure, Pat. But I love goose bumps and a racing heart (as long as it's done in jest--no REAL SCARES!)
ReplyDeleteHey Pat! Awesome photos, I really like the 99cent skull mask...and that wall hanging one is pretty creepy too! I think my favourite scary movie is The Shining...'work and no play makes Jack a dull boy'...Pyscho was awesome too, maybe that's my favourite. I loved Anthony Perkins..'a boy's best friend is his mother'......creepy!
ReplyDeleteShiver.
ReplyDeleteI'm such a bad, bad person around scary. Last night I made my husband go to the neighbors haunted house so he could TELL me about it and I wouldn't be scared.
I was still scared!
Tim - Thanks Tim! I hope you had a nice weekend and the new job is going well.
ReplyDeleteIntricate Knot - Thanks for stopping by. Oh yeah, I love the shining also. The movie and the book!
Laura - I think we all like to be scared once in a while. It really gives an adrenalin push! That's for sure!
Eve - Thanks Eve. Speaking of teh shining. Have you been to Universal studios in Los Angeles? They still have the original set, including the creepy old house and motel sitting there.
Jenny - See? We have to go do the scary stuff while you watch Dancing with the Stars!
WONDERFUL 99-cent mask pic.
ReplyDeleteCool stuff! I remember the doll head.
ReplyDelete"49 chevy

these are creeptastic...and may I say I'm so very glad you didn't include a spider in these!
