Morro Bay Quick Visit
As this is our third trip through Morro Bay in the last year, this will be a short one with just a few photos. I think one more post on that trip will just about cover it. Before we're done with out current two week trip, I should have a few good photos from it as well. It's not really much of a trip, because we only drove a hundred miles to get here and we're pretty much hanging around the camp ground. Still lots to see though...

Beautiful, Pat. I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a, "wish I was there" trip to me.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful Bay and photographs Patrick.
ReplyDeleteCostas
gosh, those are beautiful! love that huge rock in the background, and your gull (in the header) is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful. And not just because it's cold outside.
ReplyDeleteI love Moro Bay. Thanks for taking me there again.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos Pat and that seagull is way cool!
ReplyDeleteYou fixed it!!! Now I can do the second click and make them big. Thank you, kind Sir!
ReplyDeleteLove the new header.
I can see why you're using the seagull photo as your new header - it's an awesome shot!
ReplyDeleteI mentioned to you that my late husband Ben and I had visited this area several years ago. The day we were in Morro Bay, it was so foggy we could not see the dome rock, but we still had a good time.
ReplyDeleteKay
My husband and I camped at Morro Bay in 1983 on a trip to Disneyland with our girls. The kids said they liked the beach better than Disneyland! It is a beautiful spot.
ReplyDeleteI love Morro Bay. First time I went there I was 14 or so. The grandfather of a friend lived there as a fisherman. It was just a tiny fishing village then.
ReplyDeleteMy parents lived in northern Santa Barbara Co and one of their favorite ways to spend a weekend morning was a drive up 101 to have breakfast at Dorn's. Is it still there?
I missed your previous visit so this is my first sighting of this extraordinary and sinister looking rock.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, Pat.... great one for your new header :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful blue water. Fabulous shots!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great place and love that seagull!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot for the header. Man, I'm tellin' ya I feel like I have 4 or 5 vacations this year with all your travel shots and stories. Thanks Pat, I for one will never tire of this no matter how many you post ( I think I speak for the group BTW).
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely there.
ReplyDeleteTalli - Thanks Talli! No need to be jealous now, just hop on a plane!
ReplyDeleteSharon - I know what you mean. It's only been a few weeks since I was there and I want to go back already!
Costas - Thanks so much Costas!
TexWisGirl - Thanks! I think that is one of my favorite bird photos. That huge rock is a lava dome/plug from an ancient volcano. There are seven of them in the area. They are called the seven sisters.
Al - Either way, thanks Al!
Bossy Betty - My pleasure! I'm sure I'll be taking you there several more times.
Brian - Thanks Brian! I know you like them birds!
Ms A - Thanks! To be honest, I didn't fix anything. Just luck I guess!
Alex - I think I like the background as much as the bird. thanks Alex!
Kay - I've been there on foggy days like that also. I like it either way.
Belle - In my opinion, the town hasn't changed that much. Yes, there are some surrounding areas that have changed a lot, but not much change for Morro Bay.
ReplyDeleteCalifornia Girl - I remember when I was young, there wasn't much of a tourist presence there at all. Either way, I love it. Dorn's is still there! We ate there about 6 months ago...
Lucy Corrander - It's an awesome place, especially close up. Many birds use it as a nesting area.
Nat - Thanks Nat! Yep, I thought it was time to have a new header for a while.
M Pax - Thanks! It's an awesome spot. You've never been there?
mshatch - It sure does! I love it there.
it looks so exotic and foreign, I wouldn't guess that the photos were of my homeland. the first could be Greece! the color of the water is astounding. so too that last photo. it soars! happy week to you Pat.
ReplyDeleteI love Moro Bay, great place for birding.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous place. Reminds me of a place in Greece my friend Nature Digital has shared with us in Greece.

Love, love, love your new header photo. Beautifully, simply, perfect. I still check in once in a while, been busy helping my mom fight the bastard cancer. Peace.
ReplyDeleteVickie

ReplyDeleteThey're STILL beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd now...it's RAINING. Ohhhh.....F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm jealous too. Endless summer, boating, swimming, hiking. It's pouring icy rain here non-stop. Haven't seen the sun in days and days. Booooo.
ReplyDeleteBah. Humbug..
Rosemary
I really like how this bird's wing is perfectly aligned with the water. It's a magical shot.

MASTER!!!!!! I Bow!
ReplyDeleteand I'm not that Stern. And one good stern deserves....OK OK I"ll stop!
J
Absolutely beautiful. Not a bad place to hang around!
ReplyDeleteMs. Becky - It may seem exotic, but it's really just a sleepy little fishing village that has a little bit of tourist stuff mixed in. Thanks Becky!
ReplyDeleteMartha Z - I'm know very little about birding, but I know that the Morro bay area is known for it. I need to study up!
Virginia - Oh yeah! I know Costas also. What an amazing part of the world he lives in.
Vickie - Thanks Vickie! I saw the awesome background and then waited and waited until a bird passed through it. I'm usually too ADD for that kind of thing, but this time it worked out. I'm SO HAPPY to see you here and hope you will be able to get out and do some shutterbugging yourself pretty soon. All the positive thoughts I can muster are coming your way.
TheChieftess - Thanks so much! That photo was half design and half pure luck.
Rekha - Thanks so much Rek! As always, I really appreciate your kind words and support.
Mynx - Thanks so much! You can do it also. It just takes some practice!
Betty M - Thanks Betty! You've done a lot of traveling, maybe now it's time to head out to the left coast!
Kitty - Thanks! It's so nice to see you here. I hope you have some more adventures soon...
Al - I'm sorry about the weather! They keep promising us rain and cold weather, but not much as of yet.
Rosemary - BRRR!!! That sounds so cold! As much as I love the place we are at now and a few other places, it would be very hard for us to move from the very MILD weather that is so consistent where we now live. Are you taking another southbound sail this year?
ReplyDeleteRobyn - I was so happy that it turned out like that. I'd like to say I planned it, but that would be a lie! Thanks my friend!
John - Thank you my son! You may kiss the ring...
Carly - thanks so much! Yep, it's pretty darn nice.
Beautiful! I love the ocean. Twitter
ReplyDeleteMan, do you guys have awesome weather! That brilliant blue sky sure brings out the best blue in the sea, too! Lovely captures, Pat. (And whip me with a wet noodle that I don't remember, but did you change your blog theme? You certainly changed the header... Nice!)
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots, Pat.. your shot of the gull is a 1st place winner, for sure!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics, as always. :) Especially the first and the last. And I love your new header!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE the new Look--Yes--I'm that far behind!
