Snow Canyon - Slot Canyon

This is the start of the trail to Jenny's Canyon.  Not to be confused with Jenny's Overlook. Man, this Jenny (donkey or human) must have been something.

A little further up the trail.

Further still. Now it's gotten very narrow.

We're about half way in the slot canyon. The top is closer together than the bottom and is about 200 feet straight up.

Almost to the end.

The end.

My obligatory odd shot.

Coming back down the trail.
------------------------------------------------
I'm pretty sure this concludes the posts from our recent Arizona/Utah road trip. I have MANY more photos, but I don't want this to get boring.  I have a few posts left to do from our latest trip to the Central California coast.  Right now, we're in our RV up on our favorite mountain top. We're on a ridge line overlooking the Anza-Borrego desert.  The wind has been doing it's best to blow us off that ridge line. Right now it's storming big time and we're hoping to wake up covered in snow.  Fingers crossed...

TexWisGirl - She sure was! I'm gonna find out who, or what she was.

salarsen - Thanks! It was my pleasure. No thinks about the snow. If we want it, we can easily get there by driving. We thought we were going to get some last night where we are right now.

laughingmom - My pleasure! Thanks for looking!

Talli - Thanks Talli! Lot's of that color in this part of the U.S.

Pam - Thanks so much Pam! I have no idea about Jenny, but I do know about the snow. Snow Canyon is named after a guy named Snow!

Alex - We do some research before we go usually. Many times, a local person gives us a hint or two also.

Budd - She sure did! I really do have to find out if she was a human or a donkey. If she was a person, who she was...

Brian - Thanks Brian! No snow yet!

  17. Could you hear the Earth hum when in the canyon? I find that true here a lot. What a beautiful place. Bet it was better in person.

  18. Stunning Pat! A truly spectacular part of the world...
Hmmm... maybe you will get snow soon? Sure you'll get some good shots if you do...

  21. Pat those are some amazing pictures as always. Maybe it's just me but it's hard to find a trail in those pictures...but the scenery is awesome. Hope you have plenty of supplies if you get snowed in! Thanks for the great Tillett Vicarious Vacations!

  22. you capture the most excellent colors! this scenery reminds me of the place where that movie 127 Hours took place (the climber had to sever his own arm). I didn't see the movie but my sister tells me it's a good one. But the best news here is that you may be snowed on! oooh, I love a good storm. I hope you get lots of snow, I'm anxiously awaiting our first snowfall. happy week to you Pat. take good care now.

  23. Beautiful photos. Some of the rocks and colours remind me of canyons in the middle of Australia. You are such a talented photographer

  24. Wow, it's so beautiful. Kinda reminds me of the Indiana Jones movie (Last Crusade) where they go to Petra. The walls are like that.

  25. A fabulous, fabulous trail. I'm not prone to envy, but a do detect a slight shade of green here... :-) Looks like you had amazing weather for this walk, too. I'll be back to see your view from the ridge where you are now... with or without snow.

  26. Wow, you guys really covered some ground. And what a great place to end up! The Canyon shots are so dramatic. Like some Georgia O'keefe paintings! I do know those mountain tops overlooking Anza Borrego and am sitting here imagining the view and yes, how awesome to wake up in such a place covered in snow! Thanks for taking us on this epic journey and introducing me to some new places. Happy Trails!

  27. Can you imagine it in the snow? Are you going back when there is SNOW in Snow Canyon?

    ReplyDelete
  28. M Pax - I haven't had that happen here, but I've felt some odd things in Sedona AZ.

Nat - Thanks Nat! It sure is spectacular. Although, we've had plenty of rain where we are now, it's not quite getting cold enough to snow.

    becca - Thanks becca!

I wonder Wye - Thanks so much! I trust them also, but NOT down the trail into the grand canyon!

Belle - I hope you make it back there! There is just so much beauty to see.

Chuck - I'm with you. It's hard following a trail if it's not used much. I think our snow window has closed. We're staying here for 9 or 10 more days, so maybe... Thanks Chuck!

Ms. Becky - Thanks Becky! Actually, it's pretty close to where the actual even took place. The snow maybe letting us down. It's just not getting cold enough. Just wet and muddy! You have a great week also.

Mynx - One of these days, maybe we can make our way to Australia. Thanks for the nice words.

Clarissa - It's beautiful there. Petra! Another place I'd love to go to, but will likely never make it.

Francisca - It was really nice weather! Much different than where we are now. I hope to have some good photos, but the weather is not cooperating. And no snow!

Stickup Artist - We are starting to feel like vagabonds. One trip after another. Our time here is over in about 9 days. Five days after we get home, we are taking off again in the opposite direction to the mountains inland from Santa Barbara. There's a very nice hike to a waterfall that should be awesome this time of year. We'll see. thanks! I still haven't made it to the ghost town you told me about.

Brenda - It would be awesome in snow, but I believe that it very rarely snows there.

  29. What breathtaking photos! Must have been a great trip!

  30. You keep finding the best out-of-the-way places. Don't you love the infinite way rocks form into patterns and creations? I really love the last photo. The shape is so unusual. The others are so brilliant with color. It's hard to have a favorite here. I like the obligatory odd pic. Very nice with your blurred-out background.

  31. You really do get to see some of the prettiest places!

  32. Lola - Thanks Lola! It was a great trip. I'm sure I only posted about a tiny fraction of the photos I took. Too much to see!

tapirgal - We do our best to try and see things that most people miss. Or at least look at them in a different manner. I'm totally at home in the desert and high desert, but NOT in the summer! Thanks for your nice words and support Sheryl (as always)!

Marlene - We travel around a great deal, but I promise you that we've barely scratched the surface of what there is to see in out west.

  33. Beautiful spot with brilliant coloring. Probably not a good place if you are claustrophobic.

  34. Love these shots...so lucky to be able to see them, some of nature's finest creations.......their images often leave me with the feeling of being on an alien landscape.

  35. Darryl and Ruth - I agree with you about that. There was also evidence that some type of predator eats it's catch in there.

Rek - Thanks Rek! It is very forign wehn compared with what we see everyday.

  38. Beautiful pictures Pat. Could be the centre of Australia. Also looks like the terrain from the film 127 Hours.

    Great shots and colours.

  39. Rosemary - I do okay, but I could stand to lose some weight. That would make it easier for sure!

Anthony - Thanks Anthony! The area where they filmed the movie isn't too far from here (as the crow flies).
