I normally wouldn't say anything about it being my birthday. I'm pretty happy to have made it to this ripe old age, so this year I'm making an exception. If you've been around my blog for a while, or gone back and read some of my life stories, I'm sure you understand what I mean. Although we had a nice b'day party on Saturday night to celebrate, today is actually the day...

Happy Birthday, Patrick! You are NOT old! You are experienced! Hope you have a wonderful day. Loved these pictures too!!
ReplyDeleteYour wife makes you look good. And happy birthday!! The hippie pictures crack me up. I think many of us of this generation went through that stage.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Pat! Many Happy returns.
ReplyDelete(age is only a number)
Happy Birthday Patrick! My dad will be 60 this November and he's not handling it so well :-D
ReplyDeleteLong time reader (but never commented before) - especially the family stories. Someone close to me had a very troubled and traumatic childhood as well. When I stumbled upon your blog I sat for probably four+ hours reading every single family-related post. Thank you for sharing them :-)
Happy birthday, Pat! Congrats on making it into your seventh decade in such good nick :)
ReplyDeleteLoved the photo series...some new, some old...not that you're old or anything...OK, enough said :)

That 'all the way' senile picture is still the best. That face you're making just cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday sir. I hear 60 is the new 59 so you've still got a year before you're really old. lol
I wish you a great year to come.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU BLOGGING GENIUS!!! BTW...I made you the blog of the day today!!!
ReplyDeleteHere's to celebrating the 39th anniversary of your 21st birthday!
ReplyDeleteAnd many more to you my friend.
Vickie
There's absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating another year of breathing in and out, and the more of those you have behind you, the better you are.
ReplyDeleteThat's my story, anyway, and I'm sticking to it.
Happy Birthday, Patrick!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, dear friend. (I've heard that the woman is only as old as the man she feels. Perhaps you can say that in vice versa fashion.)
ReplyDeleteYou're a fabulous guy! Enjoy!
xoRobyn
Happy Birthday. Thanks for the photo journey through the years. Blogger friend of mine recently posted on FB "Inside every old person is a young person wonder wtf happened."
ReplyDeleteIt's just more experience for blogging. This is a great post. And yes, there is life beyond 60. I have 1 1/2 years on you. Yeah, a little scary, but life is good :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!!!

ReplyDeleteOld is only a state of mind.
ReplyDeleteYou're still a youngster - but you've got alot of experience.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Many happy returns... with some cake! :)
Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you have a fabulous day!
ReplyDeleteHappy 60th!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!! You're not old, just slightly seasoned!
ReplyDeleteYour wife is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOkay. Now what do I say about you (lol).
You look great too. Seriously. Thanks so much for posting these. I LOVE to see family pictures. I love to put a blogger's name with a face.
And thanks for stopping by my blog today. I AM working on feeling better before my next revisions arrive!!
p.s. And you have a beautiful family!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, WOW!!! You looked great in your 20s....like some rock star!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great Birthday!
Big Hugs!
Goes fast doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday.
My mom said 50 didn't bother her but 60 damn near killed her. She hated it. By the time she reached 70, she was just happy to still have b'days. She lived to be 81. I never asked about 80.
:)
Well, 60 birthdays, you must be spoiled. I was only ever allowed one. Happy birthday man :{)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, dear Pat!

Happy birthday! You don't look 60, dude. And you're certainly not old. 90 is old. You still many years to go before you hit old!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday and best wishes for a great year ahead! Great pics!
ReplyDeleteWow you are old! Nah, just joking. Your wife looks young and beautiful. Typical of the Japanese. I know my mum is still young looking at her age. Great look back.
ReplyDeleteCD
What is it they say? 60 is the new 30, or something like that? Not old. Just mature. How about it?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Pat!
Nevine
Well... I am officially glad that you came into this world 60 years ago and even more so that you came into my life and I can call you a friend.
ReplyDeleteYou are truly a blessing to all that know you, Pat.
Hope this is a great year for you and there are many more to come.
Congratulations Pat! All those pictures were a true montage of your life, so very cool. Glad you survived the party. I raise a glass to many more!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!! I love the picture progression!! It's certainly a life to be celebrated.
ReplyDeleteLyn
SIXTY??? FOR REAL??? With that bushy ol' head of hair? Normally I don't comment on a post where so many have commented and beat me to it...but I had to wish you Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeletePat, I know...in her own odd way, your mom would be proud of you today.
i like the pic aged 22 and 24. my you look great, although at this time you do aged with style. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday and all, Pat. But, holy hell: your moustache is pretty much the best thing ever.
ReplyDeleteYou are simply well-aged, my friend. Like cheese or something.
Thanks SO MUCH everyone! I appreciate all the good thoughts and nice words....
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday My Friend,
ReplyDeleteLoved the early pictures, I remember going through similar changes :)
Patrick, I beat you by 4 months! Other than the creaky knees and the need for vitamins, I still feel 26! If guys are whistling at you, it can't be over yet, right?
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns, Kiddo.
Rosemary

Happy Birthday my friend. I have hope for myself when I see that you actually got BETTER looking as you got older. You may BE 60 but after my first night of mixed bowling I FEEL 60. I know this comment will get lost in you voluminous stack but here's to many more happy years for you and yours.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations belated!!!
They made me smile...especially the senile one;)
Hope you're having a great trip!
if it wasn't for your crazy mother giving birth to you, and being the crazy lady that she was with you, we wouldn't have your blog.... but more importantly, we wouldn't have you.... and i'm just not quite sure i would be anywhere close to where i am, if we didn't have you.... if the kids didn't have you.... if mom didn't have you.... the thought of our lives without you scares me more than anything, so keep being young.... keep acting young, and playing.... and doing crossword puzzles, so you don't lose your damn mind. keep being you, so we can keep loving you!!!!
ReplyDeleteyou are SUCH a blessing to everyone who reads you and even moreso to US!!!! so lucky to have you as our poopa! hoppity birthday poopity pants!!!
I'm so behind! I missed your Birthday! Congratulations, I hope you had a spectacular day. I loved looking at all these photos, they really made me chuckle! - G

Pat! Happy Birthday. My husband turned 60 this year. He said it wasn't nearly as bad as turning 50 for some reason!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a wonderful day!
And don't think of it as getting older. Think of it has having more material to write your amazing poetry about.
Jenny - It's not so bad! They say 60 is the new 59!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!!!
OH GOSH PAT! I am so sorry I missed this when it was actually your birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, my friend and remember...60 is the new 50.
Denial is a good thing.
May you have many, many more birthdays and health, happiness and love this coming year.
Joan - You don't have to apologize! You are right, 60 is the new 50, but parts of me feel like they are the new 70!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the nice words Joan!
