Northern Arizona Road Trip - Post 1

As most of you already know, my wife and I have been on another roadie. This time to Northern Arizona. I'm not sure how many posts I'm going to make about our trip, but it will be a few.  Using the town of Sedona as our base, we had quite a few adventures and a lot of fun. While we were there we did a lot of walking and hiking around, went on a couple of 4-wheel drive only wilderness tours, visited a few very ancient Indian ruins, went to the Grand Canyon, and visited some energy vortex sights.  Of course, I also have quite a few "off-beat" photos to share.

The first post (this one) is just a few of the many photos I took around town. It's amazing that this little town is so close to these giant red beauties.

  4. Arizona is on our to do list soon! We've never been, but being the desert person that I am, I can't wait. What is the temperature like there at this time of year? When is the best time to go? I've heard that Phoenix can get incredibly hot.Looking forward to more photos, especially the off-beat ones! - G

  18. I have read about the vortex energy in the Sedona area. Several businesses thrive on it. Great shots!

  19. Cheesboy - Thanks! I'm going to post what I think are the best pics in a few days.

passionofthemom - I have to fight my own "home-body-ness" so I understand. thanks!

Chuck - For some reason my photos were either really good or really bad when taken in those "vortex" areas. I'm not saying I'm a believer, I'm just saying...

  23. Wow, can you imagine living in a town with this stuff in your back yard? Awesome, Pat, please tell me you hiked up to the top of it! And took more photos from the top??

  24. Marlene - Thanks so much! I can't imagine living there and seeing these things everyday...

Costea - yes, the colors are amazing. everytime the sun moves, the colors change...

BlueWave - Yep, very much so!

Joe - They don't allow any climbing on the main rocks at all. I agree about living there, EVERY single time you raise your eyes, there is an amazing view staring back at you. To top it off, houses are VERY reasonably priced!

  25. My mom has a place in Cottonwood, only 20 mins from Sedona, so when I visit her, Sedona is one of my fav places to go. LOVE IT! I have to leave for work right now, but I'm leaving this tab open on my computer so I can come back and read about your North AZ trip. :-)

  26. Beautiful. I just noticed in the first photo that the rock formation is the same color as the bricks in the foreground.
