The urinals are in the public restroom at the Sanjūsangendō temple in Tokyo. It was pretty early in the morning, so there wasn't many people there. This place has 1000 full-size brass soldiers inside. It is said that if you look at all of them, you will find one that looks just like you. (if you are japanese). Unfortunately, no photos of the inside allowed.
These are great! Super jealous you made it to Japan. We tried to go a couple years ago, but only made it as far as Hawaii. Still hope to go at some point.
Damn I gotta pee...did you have the water running.
Pat-- I don't know why I'm pleasantly surprised at the QUALITY of you work. It's so consistent I should be used to it by now. But that's what makes you so great--the Diversity!
What an interesting picture it would be if you had men all lined up in row at the urinals. I love the glass roof picture. It looks so artistic and industrial at the same time.
Do they pee in shifts? Nobody is in there!
ReplyDeleteI am also curious about what you did to get others to vacate the bathroom.
ReplyDeleteLove the glass roof!
Beautiful photographs. Both.
ReplyDeleteCostas
Cool.
ReplyDeleteAgain, amazing pictures! :)
ReplyDeleteThe mind boggles with the Kyoto station roof: how do they keep all that glass clean, or at least transparent?

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs, I loved the second image's daring originality :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the repetitive order and lines in these pictures.
ReplyDeleteNice!
These are interesting photos. I love how you captured the architecture beautifully in the first one. It's a beautiful glass roof.
ReplyDeleteEven the restroom is spotless!
ReplyDeleteI have to congratulate you...I believe this is the first urinal picture I have ever seen on a blog.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!
Whoever thought a picture of urinals could be any kind of art form? Good eye Pat!
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought I was the only one to take photos inside public
ReplyDeleterestrooms.....

not in use yet ??

ReplyDeleteAnd yet at the very moment you took this picture, I bet there was a line of women waiting to use the women's restroom!
ReplyDeleteCome by, I have something for you.

Are those urinals ever used? They're so clean?
ReplyDeleteImpressive, when you can even make urinals look interesting in your photography!
