HB 004

This one was really tough and I was pretty lucky to get it. I was shooting directly into the early morning sun, from under the pier. I know this photo looks black and white, but it isn't. His surfboard had two colored swirls on it.  One red and one blue/green. If you enlarge it, you can just barely see them. This photo was so close to being a a total white out and a throw-away...

  1. I love black & white photo's.
Sometimes they are so much more atmospheric than coloured ones, but it depends on the subject.

  9. Amazing, Pat! Enlarged the photo is just magic: the colours pop up and the photo comes alive. It's wonderful how many different faces of the same beach you have managed to capture. :)

  13. The more you look at it the better it comes through, at first look I could just barely see the color and it appeared he was facing the camera, then after looking at it for a minute all came through clear and the perspective changed, Very Nice Picture.

  18. You know, regarding these HB pics...why do surfers surf near the pier?

  20. Sometimes pieces of art - writing, painting, drawings - pulled back at the last second from the brink of disaster turn out to be my best works. I love the way nature's light can so easily trick us. I would never have believed this wasn't a BW photo. Great work! - G
